This short video shows how astronomers hope to find the next Earth

Is there a life on other planets or are we alone in the universe? If there is a planet similar to Earth we will ever be able to reach it? Just a couple of decades ago, the idea of detecting habitable planet was mere science fiction. Today it’s already happening. “If we find Earth Proxima, it would fundamentally shift people’s perception of what the cosmos is,” says NASA astrophysicist Ruslan Belikov in this short documentary.

The short but excellent video The Search for Earth Proxima presents the breakthroughs that have led us to these discoveries. The video is a part of the Speculative Films project that makes a series of digital short documentaries about scientists using unlikely technology to save the planet’s biodiversity. Worth taking 10 minutes to watch it.
