Ladies of Landsat – Summary of activity – June 2022
Building a more diverse, inclusive, open and welcoming geospatial industry is all about giving a voice to a more diverse group of geospatial experts and it’s a pleasure to showcase Ladies of Landsat and the all the awesome work they do!
Overview Ladies of Landsat:
It is a supportive and intersectional organization for underrepresented remote sensing scientists. It was founded in 2018 by Dr. Kate Fickas and joined soon after by co-director Dr. Morgan Crowley and lead-organizers Dr. Flávia de Souza Mendes and Dr. Meghan Halabisky. Ladies of Landsat aim to lift up, retain and attract underrepresented scientists to Earth observation sciences through our many outreach activities and networking events!

June 2022 with LoL:
June 1 – Sisters of SAR and Ladies of Landsat welcomed Women of Waveforms to the community, led by Heather Kay.
Here we are! The official launch… welcome to a new community, associated with @SistersofSAR and @LadiesOfLandsat. It's just a one woman band at the moment, so please join, RT, DM and we can build this community together…

June 6 – Morgan Crowley moderated and co-organized “Women in Remote Sensing, Photogrammetry and Spatial Information Science” forum at the ISPRS World Congress 2022 with Sheryl Rose Reyes of ISPRS SC and Marguerite Madden of ISPRS. Included an in-person panel discussion and a virtual lightning talk series that included one from Kate Fickas for Ladies of Landsat.
Deeply grateful and still in awe of our presenters in yesterday’s forum ?? @LadiesOfLandsat @WomenCopernicus @geospatialwomen @geoladiesph @africwomeningis @WiGISKe @SistersofSAR @shemapsau @GRSS_IDEA
