Job Overview

The AP Specialist will have a daily, ongoing impact on financial transactions, keeping us on track, on time, and on good terms with our valued vendors by processing, tracking, and recording payables in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner.

Essential Functions

  • Process vendor invoices timely and accurately
  • Support weekly AP check run
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies, research open PO's and invoices
  • Foster relationships with vendor and suppliers through timely payments
  • Reconcile vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements
  • Work closely with the procurement team to maintain and update vendor files
  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
  • Support month-end close efforts with job costing, reconciliations, AP aging, and journal entries as


needed

  • Make recommendations to improve the quality of AP protocols and procedures
  • Supporting ad-hoc accounting projects and analysis as required
  • Exercise integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Competencies

  • Working knowledge of Deltek, Unanet, Infor or other ERP systems
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Must be detail oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work individually and with other team members with minimum supervision
  • Strong understanding of three way AP matching
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) experience required


Education/Certifications

  • Associate's degree in accounting or related field preferred


Experience

  • 3+ years general accounting and 1-3 years of accounts payable experience
  • Prior experience with government contracting preferred but not required
  • Manufacturing industry experience required
  • Prior experience with ERP systems required. Infor experience preferred
